What's included when we move your home?
Every household move we do within the city comes with the same core service. You get a truck with a tail lift, so fridges, washing machines and solid timber furniture are raised to the deck rather than carried up a ramp. Trolleys and hand trucks travel with every truck, so heavy pieces are wheeled, not dragged across your floors. Furniture is wrapped in protection covers before it leaves the room, and the load is secured with straps for the drive. Beds and tables are taken apart at the old address and put back together at the new one. At the other end, the crew places furniture and boxes in the rooms you choose, then walks through the house with you before leaving so you can check everything has arrived. All four truck sizes have a tail lift. Use this as a starting point; we’ll confirm the size once we know what’s moving.

How do we price a household move?
Every household move is charged by the hour for the truck and crew you choose. There’s a 1.5-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments, so two hours and ten minutes isn’t billed as three. Moves within 30 km of our base add a half-hour call-out. Your written quote states the hourly rate before you book.

How does a move with EZMoving work?
Every household move follows the same five steps:
- Request a quote. Tell us what’s moving and where. We usually reply the same day.
- Confirm your date. Lock in the day and a time window; we keep in touch in the lead-up.
- Wrap and load. Furniture wrapped, beds and tables dismantled, everything loaded with the tail lift, trolleys and straps.
- Unload and rebuild. Items placed in the rooms you choose, and furniture put back together.
- Final walkthrough. You check everything has arrived before we leave.
Packing or unpacking help, if you’ve asked for it, is built into the same plan.

What this service doesn't cover
This page is about moving the contents of a home within Christchurch city. Unlike the house moving companies that relocate whole buildings, we don’t shift houses off their foundations. Frequently asked questions
Do you move the house itself, or just what’s inside?
Only what’s inside: furniture, whiteware, boxes and outdoor items. Relocating a building is a separate trade.
How far ahead should I book?
For summer and month-end, book at least 2-3 weeks ahead. Mid-week, mid-month dates are easier at short notice.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes: 1.5 hours, plus a half-hour call-out for moves within 30 km of our base. After that, you pay in 15-minute steps for the time actually used.
Can you work around my settlement time?
Yes. Give us your key-release time when you book, and tell us straight away if it changes.
Can I pack myself and just book the truck and crew?
Yes. If you’d rather we pack, add it to your quote request.
Does someone need to be home during the move?
It helps to have someone at each address to point out fragile items. A final walkthrough is part of how our house moving services work.
